LOS ANGELES, CA – Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis released the following statement on the American Rescue Plan Local Fiscal Recovery Funds Spending Plan which was approved by the Board of Supervisors today:

“I want to thank President Joe Biden and his administration for delivering on the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 which has helped not just Los Angeles County, but all local jurisdictions across the nation. We truly could not have weathered the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic without this support.

I’m pleased to see several important programs included in the spending plan — many that serve as a linchpin to our most vulnerable residents. From bridging the digital divide to supporting our immigrant-focused community-based organizations, to providing protections to tenants, addressing continued food insecurity through the Grocery Voucher Program, and moving on permanent housing as part of the continuum of care, these are historic investments that will provide economic support and relief.

The pandemic has exacerbated deeply entrenched systemic inequities that will require long-term support as we work to reduce disparities and address greater social issues. That is why I will continue to advocate for ongoing funding from the federal government to ensure the continuation of successful public programs that serve both the immediate and long-term needs of our residents.”
