LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Chair Hilda L. Solis released the following statement after the Board voted in favor of her motion to extend the reward offer in the shooting investigation of Gabriela De Haro Perez.

“The rise in gang violence in the San Gabriel Valley must be addressed and it starts by identifying individuals who are engaging in crime and perpetrating trauma and pain on individuals and families through violent means. In addition, at the County, we are continuing to make investments that support surviving families as well as increasing community engagement and prevention strategies to reach our at-risk youth early on.

Today and every day, we honor the life of Gabriela De Haro Perez, one of the victims who tragically lost her life after being shot in a car-to-car shooting on Sunday, January 3, 2021 in West Covina.

Impacted community members, elected representatives, and law enforcement, along with community-based organizations who lead gang intervention and prevention work, need to come together to address violence in our communities. Only by working together, through open and frank discussions, will we put an end to the senseless violence harming our community – starting with accountability.

Accountability of the perpetrators remains central to this case which is why I have requested an extension of the $15,000 reward so that anyone who has information on this incident can come forward. If the public has any information about this case or those responsible, we urge them to contact the West Covina Police Department at 626-939-8500.”

The passage of this motion extends the $15,000 reward offered in exchange for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the heinous murder of Gabriela De Haro Perez, who was fatally shot in a car-to-car shooting near the intersection of Azusa Avenue and Amar Road in the City of West Covina on January 3, 2021.
