LOS ANGELES – Chair Hilda L. Solis released the following statement after Metro distributed its Draft Environmental Impact Statement/Environmental Impact Report for the West Santa Ana Branch Transit Corridor:
“Community feedback is essential to ensuring projects like the West Santa Ana Brach Transit Corridor are equitable and inclusive of the needs of residents who frequently use public transit.
This project in particular has the potential to significantly improve transportation in Southeast Los Angeles. Despite the presence of many transit-dependent riders, our Southeast cities lack high-quality transit, and we have the opportunity to change that. The release of the environmental document for this project marks a milestone in our initiative to make Metro BETTER and Bring Equitable Transportation To Every Resident.
I invite residents from Southeast Los Angeles to tune in to the upcoming virtual meetings or submit public comment. Whether you ride public transit to get to work, visit a doctor, go to the grocery store, or visit friends and family, we want to know! With your input and Metro’s resources, we can build projects that directly serve the needs of our residents.”
Metro will host 3 virtual meetings to solicit input on the environmental document:
