LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Chair, Hilda L. Solis, Supervisor to the First District, released the following statement after Thursday’s proposed ruling declaring Measure J unconstitutional:

“Thursday’s ruling declaring Measure J unconstitutional does not and will not deter the current and future efforts to address the core issues of Measure J including access to health care, jobs, housing and disinvestment from incarceration. The Board of Supervisors and the overwhelming voters’ support for Measure J have made it clear that we are in full alignment of a ‘Care First, Jails Last’ approach in which we prioritize care and services over incarceration. As Chair of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, I remain committed to developing and implementing upon the communities’ needs that align with Measure J.”
