LOS ANGELES – Chair Hilda L. Solis released the following statement after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced its authorization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced its recommendation of an additional COVID-19 vaccine dose for immunocompromised individuals:

“Yesterday, the FDA granted authorization and today, the CDC provided a recommendation for an additional vaccine dose of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines to those with immunocompromised systems. Since the beginning of the pandemic, I have been committed to safeguarding the health and well-being of our most vulnerable residents, especially those with underlying conditions who have been especially susceptible to serious outcomes from this virus. While we work quickly with the federal government and the State on the details regarding eligibility and verification, rest assured we have been preparing for the possibility of the need to administer further doses for some time. With hundreds of vaccination sites across the County, we are prepared to administer these doses, and urge those with underlying conditions to consult with their health professionals as soon as possible to see if an additional dose is appropriate for you.”
