LOS ANGELES, CA – Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Chair Hilda L. Solis, Supervisor to the First District, released the following statement after House lawmakers approved President Biden’s $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package, advancing to the Senate.
“I am thrilled to see President Biden’s American Rescue Plan pass through the House. That is why I strongly urge our senators to support this plan and ensure it successfully passes through the Senate. This $1.9 trillion package will help our most vulnerable communities gain access to life-saving vaccines with increased production and distribution, as well as direct economic relief to families and businesses that have suffered great economic loss as a result of the pandemic.
From a local perspective, this plan would enable Los Angeles County to bolster its support for County residents and businesses, accelerate and streamline its vaccine rollout, and make continued progress in its health and economic response to the pandemic. Our communities continue to depend on local government entities for critical services that are helping them stay housed, keeping small businesses open, and helping families put food on their table along with other public services. It is imperative that our senators work to advance this legislation to President Biden as quickly as possible. Our communities depend on it.”
