Los Angeles, CA – Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Chair Hilda L. Solis, Supervisor to the First District, released the following statement in response to Texas Senate Bill 8 (S.B. 8), a Texas law banning abortion as early as six weeks:

“If this past year and a half has shown us anything, it’s the importance of having access to timely healthcare when you need it. In spite of this, legislators in Texas have taken the unconscionable step of limiting women’s access to care, and conservative justices on the Supreme Court have failed to do their duty and uphold the law of the land. Reproductive care is healthcare and make no mistake – what these officials have done is nothing less than violate reproductive rights and limit women’s access to necessary care. It is unacceptable, and here in Los Angeles County, we will make sure that a woman’s right to an abortion and her reproductive health is protected.”
