LOS ANGELES – Today, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the appointment of Craig Taubman, Founder of the Pico Union Project to the Los Angeles County Citizens’ Economy and Efficiency Commission.

“As we continue to navigate the challenges of the pandemic, the County’s partnerships with community leaders remains pivotal to keeping a pulse on the emerging needs of residents,” shared Chair Solis. “I am confident that with Craig’s appointment, the commission will work to create new approaches that make local government more accessible and resourceful for all residents, including our most vulnerable, like residents in Pico Union that Craig proudly serves.”

Craig Taubman is the Founder of the Pico Union Project, a multi-faith non-profit organization serving the most vulnerable communities with food distributions, mentorships, and community-oriented activities such as urban gardening. He is a lifelong musician, artist, and community leader who also enjoyed a successful career in film and television.

“I’ve always been a community activist and motivated to be an agent of change,” said Founder of the Pico-Union Project, Craig Taubman. “It was not until my daughter as a college student taught me the critical role that government played in implementing sustainable change. My appointment as a County Commissioner by Chair Solis is a great honor and a powerful opportunity to be part of a team committed to a shared vision for a brighter and more equitable tomorrow.”

The Economy and Efficiency Commission has been established to examine any function of County government at the request of the Board of Supervisors, on its own initiative, or as suggested by others. The Commission conducts reviews of all aspects of local government policy, management, and operations. Upon the completion of these reviews, the Commission submits its recommendations to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors. The objective of these recommendations is to improve the economy, efficiency and effectiveness of local government.
