Under, Prop. 47, reclassification to misdemeanors for these felony crimes is retroactive – so individuals with such crimes anywhere in their life history will be considered for reclassification. Prop. 47 requires that each individual petition the court for consideration. The deadline for such petitions is Nov. 3, 2017.
Potentially re-classifiable felonies covered by Prop. 47 include:
- Shoplifting, petty theft, fraud and/or bad checks less than $950;
- Several low-level drug possession crimes.
