Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis released the following statement after the Board of Supervisors approved her motion to establish a new program, in collaboration with the state of California, to offer frontline workers access to low-cost hotel rooms:
“Our essential workers on the frontlines of Los Angeles County’s COVID-19 crisis deserve our support in this crucial moment of this global pandemic. LA County will ramp up its efforts to ensure these hardworking individuals get the help they need after working long days at medical facilities where they are either treating COVID-19 patients or coming in direct contact with people exposed to the virus.
“Through my Board motion, LA County will protect workers who are protecting us from this highly contagious virus by offering them safe, affordable temporary housing options.
“I want to thank our partners in the hotel industry who have teamed up with us to provide care for our caregivers. LA County will support our heroes: our health care professionals who are treating our loved ones diagnosed with COVID-19.”
