LOS ANGELES, CA – Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis issued the following statement after the Board of Supervisors voted to amend the County’s eviction moratorium to extend protections for residential and commercial tenants and mobile home space renters, throughout all cities in the County, that are not preempted by AB 3088, The COVID-19 Tenant Relief Act of 2020, through January 31, 2021:

“Los Angeles County’s eviction moratorium has served as a safety net for our most vulnerable who were on the brink of homelessness.

Without the County’s intervention during this crisis, the number of people losing their homes due to evictions would have increased.

To that end, it is in the County’s best interest to protect rent-burdened households from falling into homelessness, as well as provide a lifeline to local small businesses who have been some of the hardest hit by the economic fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic. The actions taken today, will extend the eviction protections for both residential and commercial tenants.

I will continue to advocate for the County’s eviction moratorium as long as necessary to help our communities weather this pandemic.”
