Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis announces the opening of a new COVID-19 testing site at South Gate Park, 4900 Southern Ave., in South Gate. This drive-thru testing site will help slow the spread of COVID-19 by identifying individuals who need to isolate and receive medical care. The new testing site opens Monday.

“So long as COVID-19 continues to spread among communities in Southeast Los Angeles County, we will ramp up our response by expanding access to COVID-19 testing,” said Supervisor Solis. “Testing is critical to flattening the curve of COVID-19, particularly in areas where residents endure significant disparities from the health crisis.”

Tests are free and proof of medical insurance is not required. All on-site testing will be conducted from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday by appointment only. This is the second large-scale COVID-19 testing site the County has launched, at Supervisor Solis’ direction, in Southeast Los Angeles.

“Predominantly Latinx immigrant neighborhoods in South Gate, Huntington Park, and Bell have been hard hit by COVID-19,” added Supervisor Solis. “Testing can save lives and livelihoods.”

South Gate Vice Mayor Al Rios said expanded COVID-19 testing throughout Southeast Los Angeles County will help families who have been impacted by COVID-19.

“Residents in Southeast Los Angeles County, and surrounding communities, are very appreciative of Supervisor Hilda Solis’ leadership in selecting the City of South Gate for COVID-19 testing after the region witnessed an increase in the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19,” said Rios. “This decision will prevent the spread of the virus, and ultimately, will save lives.”
