LOS ANGELES, CA – Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis has released the following statement after the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that the man found dead in a white van in the City of Torrance was the Monterey Park shooting suspect.

“I am grateful for the swift actions of our law enforcement partners – the Monterey Park Police Department, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, and the FBI – in locating the gunman from last night’s mass shooting in Monterey Park.

As we await confirmation of the motive behind this senseless act of violence, I want to express my deep sympathies to the families who lost loved ones. The County of Los Angeles mourns with you and is committed to supporting you and the entire Monterey Park community through this difficult time.
