Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis released the following statement in response to Trump’s Executive Order to reduce unemployment benefits:

“Trump’s Executive Order to cut unemployment benefits down to $400 a week while millions of Americans are struggling to make ends meet is outrageous. Worse yet, the administration is proposing that states pay for 25 percent of those benefits, which would cost California $700 million a week. In response, Gov. Gavin Newsom has said that our state cannot shoulder this burden without cutting vital services. I wholeheartedly agree. We do not have the funding and cannot afford to cut critical services upon which millions of Californians depend. The federal administration should stop playing games and work with Congress to extend the full $600 a week unemployment benefits.”
