Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis released the following statement after the Metro Board of Directors approved a motion authored by Director Hahn, co-authored by Supervisor Solis and Directors Garcetti, Butts and Garcia, directing Metro to continue to work towards shovel-ready status on all projects consistent with the Measure M expenditure plan:

“Even though we are in the middle of an unprecedent global pandemic, our highest-priority projects at Metro will continue to move ahead towards construction after the Metro Board approved our motion today. There are many projects in Metro’s portfolio that many of our communities are awaiting to come to fruition, and we must ensure projects such as the West Santa Ana Branch Transit Corridor and the Gold Line Eastside Extension, move forward in order to provide our most disadvantaged neighborhoods access to jobs, education, and recreational amenities. These projects will also offer opportunities for economic development as our region continues to recover from the effects of the COVID-19 crisis.”
