Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis released the following statement after the Board of Supervisors authorized up to $15,000,000 in bonds to finance the acquisition and rehabilitation of the Casa Bonita Senior Apartments, an 80-unit multifamily rental housing development located in the City of Huntington Park:

“I am excited to launch the next phase of this important affordable housing project. When complete, it will include 64 one-bedroom units and 16 two-bedroom units, all of which except for the manager unit will be reserved for seniors with incomes up to 50% of the Area Median Income (AMI). On-site amenities will consist of a club house, computer lab, landscaped outdoor patio, ADA accessible ramps, onsite management office, and social service coordinator. The funds approved today will go towards acquiring the property and upgrades, including energy efficiency, air-conditioning, security, flooring, cabinets, fixtures, appliances, and much more.

The homelessness crisis in our neighborhoods is best combated by promoting and supporting these kinds of affordable housing projects. When everyone has a home to call their own, everyone has a greater chance for a better life.”
