Immigration: Actions and Resources

Since June 6, 2025, Los Angeles County residents have experienced a wave of aggressive federal immigration raids. These actions have caused fear and widespread disruptions, leaving many residents, including working families, undocumented residents, youth, and others, vulnerable and afraid to leave their homes to work, visit the doctor, shop for groceries, or carry out daily routines.

That is why, since the raids began, I’ve led 14 motions to protect Los Angeles County residents. These actions include:

  • Directing County Counsel to join or file legal action against unlawful arrests and seizures in Los Angeles County;
  • Directing County Counsel to join or file legal action opposing the termination of Temporary Protected Status for Los Angeles County residents in danger of deportation since January 2025, including but not limited to nationals of Honduras and Nicaragua
  • Expanding access to essential health and social services, including telehealth appointments, mailed prescriptions, and food delivery (more details coming soon)
  • Establishing a small business interruption fund for local businesses by enforcement activities (Click here to learn about the LA County Small Business Resiliency Fund)
  • Establishing a cash aid fund for workers and their families directly impacted by immigration raids
  • Working to establish a work equipment return program for those detained
  • Expanding meal access through the Restaurant Meals Program; increase meal options for CalFresh Recipients
  • Expanding the County’s pet foster program and promoting resources for impacted families due to immigration enforcement
  • Launching a Know Your Rights Campaign for youth, and young people working with youth, to inform those engaged in civic activism on their rights.
  • Expanding rapid response efforts, connecting impacted residents with mental health care, public benefits, and the creation of multilingual outreach tools.
  • Assessing the impacts of the federal government’s “Big Bill”, which includes reduced funding for Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and more. The bill also includes significant funding for immigration enforcement.

But these efforts are not new. Immigration has long been a personal issue for me. In 2016, I launched RepresentLA to provide legal support for residents and secured an additional $5.5 million in funding this year. In 2017, I created the Office of Immigrant Affairs (OIA) to ensure immigrant communities have access to legal assistance, social services, and other vital resources.

These actions reflect a strong and clear stance by Los Angeles County against federal practices that violate the constitutional rights and dignity of our residents. I am proud to lead these efforts. The current federal actions not only undermine constitutional protections, they have also created an atmosphere of fear and instability. Parents are afraid to send their children to school. Workers are avoiding job sites. Small businesses are closing. Even places of worship are seeing declining attendance.

Now is the time for bold, united action. I remain fully committed to standing strong with our communities.

We will continue to protect our residents, uphold civil liberties, and defend the dignity of every person affected by these harmful immigration raids.

In Solidarity,

Hilda L. Solis
Los Angeles County Chair Pro Tem, and First District Supervisor

  • $300,000 to CHIRLA
  • $250,000 To CARECEN
  • $100,000 to Immigrant Defenders Law Center
  • $200,000 in funding to City of Montebello ($50K), City of Baldwin Park ($50K), and El Monte Cares ($100K) to address food insecurity among families afraid to leave their homes due to ongoing raids. Since then, several cities across the County have adopted similar models.
