Certificate Request
First District Certificate Request Guidelines
- Certificates are provided as a courtesy by Supervisor Hilda L. Solis and are intended to recognize individuals, community organizations, or businesses in the First District for their exceptional contributions to the people of Los Angeles County. All requests must be submitted at least 4 weeks prior to the date needed.
- The honoree(s) must be an individual, organization, or business that resides within the First District.
- Retirement scrolls are processed by home address, to find out who your board representative you can use the District Locator.
- Commendation requests recognize a milestone, or an occasion of extraordinary significance and the honoree(s) have made a meaningful impact or contribution to the people of Los Angeles County.
- Commendations may not be requested for yourself.
- Ensure all information is correct, including spelling to avoid re-dos/delays.
Art suggestions are welcomed; however, the outcome is a unique art piece and a gift from the Board of Supervisors. - The Supervisor’s office reserves the right to rescind a certificate if false or misleading information was provided in the application.
- The Supervisor’s office reserves the right to decline any certificate request.
- Given the high volume of requests, the Supervisor’s office may not be able to accommodate your request even if the criteria outlined above are met.
- If requesting “whereas” please attach verbiage in a word document. Ensure verbiage is 200 words or less.

- All requests must be picked up from one of our offices. Due to limited space, there is a 1 month holding period after notification.
