Certificate Request

First District Certificate Request Guidelines

Certificates are provided as a courtesy by Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis to recognize individuals, community organizations, or businesses within the First District for their exceptional contributions to the people of Los Angeles County. All requests must be submitted at least four weeks prior to the date the certificate is needed.

Honorees must be individuals, organizations, or businesses located within the First District. Retirement scrolls are processed based on the honoree’s home address. To determine your Board representative, please use the District Locator.

Commendation requests are intended to recognize milestones or occasions of extraordinary significance. Honorees should have made a meaningful impact or contribution to the people of Los Angeles County. Commendations may not be requested for yourself.

Please ensure that all submitted information, including spelling and titles, is accurate to avoid delays or the need for revisions.

Art suggestions are welcome; however, each certificate is a unique artistic piece and a gift from the Board of Supervisors.

The Supervisor’s Office reserves the right to rescind a certificate if false or misleading information is provided in the application. The Office also reserves the right to decline any certificate request. Due to the high volume of requests, the Office may not be able to accommodate all requests, even when the criteria outlined above are met.

If requesting “whereas” language, please attach the proposed verbiage in a Word document. All “whereas” language must be 200 words or fewer.

For requests involving multiple recipients, please contact our office in advance at FirstDistrictScrolls@bos.lacounty.gov.

All certificates must be picked up from one of our offices. Due to limited storage space, certificates will only be held for one month following notification.
