Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Can we call this event the first car-free event of this magnitude in City Terrace?
Yes. This is the inaugural, grant-funded event, and LA County is excited to deliver it with support from its funding partner, Metro.
When do streets close and when will they reopen?
Streets will begin closing at 7:00 a.m. for participant safety. We ask community members to move their vehicles by that time. Streets will reopen as soon as possible after the event ends at 3:00 p.m., and no later than 7:00 p.m.
Can cars remain parked on the marked streets before the event? Will they be towed?
Vehicles parked on the event route after 7:00 a.m. on December 13 and 14 are subject to ticketing and possible towing.
Are there suggested parking locations for neighbors impacted by the closures?
LA County is working to secure free parking between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on December 13 and 14 at:
- Harrison Elementary School
- Kennedy Elementary School
- Anton Elementary School
- Marengo St., between City Terrace and Evergreen
Additional resident parking will be available at the City Terrace Park parking lot. Details will be shared with the community prior to the event.
Are there vehicle or device restrictions (e-bikes, scooters, etc.)?
In the spirit of events like CicLAvia, e-bike riders are encouraged to turn off their motors and pedal. Participants are also encouraged to walk the route to fully enjoy the neighborhood’s architecture and ambience.
What organizations, vendors, and services will be at the activity hubs?
Each hub will offer robust programming, including:
- Walk ’n Rollers, offering a kids’ bike skills rodeo and helmet giveaway at the Ditman Hub.
