Solis Opposes Lineage Logistics’ Permit Application to Rebuild Warehouse

EAST LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Los Angeles County Board Chair and First District Supervisor Hilda L. Solis today issued the following statement opposing Lineage Logistics’ application to rebuild its warehouse following the June fire:

“I made very clear during today’s Board of Supervisors meeting that the County must speak up and take every appropriate step, including working with County Counsel to evaluate all available options, because rebuilding Lineage’s facility is not something we support. Like Mayor Karen Bass and Councilmember Ysabel Jurado, I oppose Lineage moving forward with permit applications while residents are still waiting for transparency, accountability and meaningful action.

Since the fire, I have repeatedly convened regulatory and public health agencies, including the South Coast Air Quality Management District and the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, to assess impacts, monitor conditions and address residents’ concerns. Yet critical issues remain unresolved, and Lineage has not demonstrated the level of transparency, responsiveness or cooperation this community deserves.

The submission of a permit application does not erase the harm caused by this incident or the ongoing concerns of residents in East Los Angeles. These communities have long borne the burden of disproportionate environmental impacts, and the review of any future permits must fully account for the consequences of this fire, unanswered concerns and public health implications. The City of Los Angeles, as the permitting authority, must carefully evaluate these factors before making any decisions regarding the site.

East Los Angeles deserve more than a return to business as usual. They deserve a process that prioritizes public health, environmental justice and community safety over corporate interests.”
