East Los Angeles, CA – Yesterday, Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis joined representatives with the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation to unveil a newly renovated playground at Belvedere Regional Community Park in East Los Angeles. This project, made possible with a $1.480 million grant funded by the State of California’s Prop 68 Program, which focuses on creating or improving green public spaces across the state, transforms a 15-year old playground into a newly ADA-accessible oasis for children.

“The Belvedere Regional Community Park holds a rich history in providing a third space for the community to build and empower one another, and in the present day, we celebrate this history by choosing to invest in environmental justice, inclusion, and equity. Whenever we add or enhance existing open spaces in underserved communities, we enhance access and thereby improve the physical, mental, and social-emotional well-being of thousands of children and families,” said Supervisor Solis. The renovations will no doubt make an incredible improvement to ensuring that families can partake in leisure, build stronger relationships with one another, and participate in active and healthy physical activities. “

The Belvedere Playground features ADA-accessible surfaces and play elements that support children of various abilities to engage and access fully. The playground consists of a play structure with slides, a seesaw, a tilted whirlwind seat, a saucer swing, and shades, among other amenities.
