Solis Proclaims April 25th as the “County of Los Angeles March of Dimes Day,” Recognizes Annual “March for Babies” Walk

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Today, Los Angeles County Board Chair and First District Supervisor proclaimed April 25, 2026 as the “County of Los Angeles March of Dimes Day” in alignment with the County’s March of Dimes campaign, raising awareness and support for preventable maternal and infant health conditions.

For 42 years, the County’s Charitable Giving Program has launched its March of Dimes (MOD) campaign, raising awareness and support for MOD’s investment in research, education, and advocacy to minimize health equity gaps in maternal health. The efforts, in alignment with the County’s Anti-Racism, Diversity, and Inclusion (ARDI) Initiative, focus on reducing infant mortality while funding vital services and programs that directly benefits mothers and babies across the County.

“The County’s ‘March of Dimes Day’ is a reaffirmation of our commitment to raise awareness for the wellbeing of our mothers and infants,” said Chair Solis. “Every step helps ensure our families have the best possible start and together, can help build a stronger, more resilient Los Angeles County.”

“With the support of the Los Angeles County and other local partnerships, March of Dimes is opening culturally grounded resource hubs in underserved LA neighborhoods, supporting NICU families through their most vulnerable moments, and advancing policies that ensure Black, Hispanic, American Indian/Alaska Native, and low-income pregnant mothers have access to the care and support they deserve,” said Lisa M. Garrett, Director of Personnel for Los Angeles County’s Department of Human Resources.

The approved motion also highlights the annual “March for Babies” Walk to be held at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, along with “Blue Jeans for Babies” Days throughout the County on February 18-19, March 18-19, April 15-16, May 20-21, and June 17-18.
