Community leaders, organizers, and entrepreneurs recognized for driving opportunity and impact during Women’s History Month reception in Baldwin Park.

BALDWIN PARK, Calif. — Los Angeles County Board Chair and First District Supervisor Hilda L. Solis today convened more than 200 elected officials, community leaders and residents at the Courtyard by Marriott Los Angeles Baldwin Park for a Women’s History Month reception honoring women whose leadership and service are driving change across the First District.

The annual reception recognized 11 women whose work spans public service, education, health care, small business and grassroots organizing, reflecting the breadth of leadership shaping Los Angeles County communities.

In February, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, led by Chair Solis, proclaimed March 2026 as Women’s History Month and March 6, 2026, as Latina History Day, underscoring both the historic contributions of women and the continued need to advance equity and opportunity.

“Women’s History Month is both a celebration and a call to action,” said Board Chair Solis. “At a time when hard-fought gains are being challenged at the federal level, we must remain steadfast in protecting the rights, opportunities and dignity of women and girls. The progress we’ve made exists because women fought for it, and it will continue only if we do the same.”

Women’s History Month began as a local observance in Sonoma, California, and has since grown into a national recognition of women’s contributions across all sectors of society.

The 2026 First District Women’s History Month honorees are:

  • Scarlet Peralta, Councilmember, City of Montebello

“These women are organizers, advocates, educators and entrepreneurs who show up every day to serve others,” added Chair Solis. “Their leadership strengthens our communities, expands opportunity and ensures that the next generation of women and girls can thrive.”
